Gjiro Art
“Gjiro Art” is Arjela Banushaj’s new collection of garments and accessoires, inspired by the grandiose architecture and setting of this south Albanian town, and produced in cooperation with Gjirokastra artisans and the Gjirokastra Conservation and Development Organization (GCDO).
The underlying concept of this unique cooperation has been to find new forms of aesthetic expression based on Albanian traditions. Drawing from her research of Albanian traditional costumes and consultations with local artisans, Arjela Banushaj has designed this collection of modern fashion which, with a few natural colours and the appeal of a countryside summer, reflects the lifestyle of Gjirokastra itself.
At the same time, the cooperation with Arjela Banushaj introduced the artisans to modern fashion design, thus expanding their aesthetic vision and crafts experience, and opening them up to new fields of work.
Arjela Banushaj’s “GjiroArt” collection has become the flagship selection of the artisan shop operated by the Gjirokastra Conservation and Development Organization. It is expected to appeal to visitors both local and foreign who are looking for something valuable and genuinely Albanian while being simply great fashion.
